Good Luck in New Zealand from all at S&C
The hard work and meticulous planning is nearly over and three glorious weeks of rugby, relaxation and fun lie ahead.
It just remains for us to wish everyone involved all our very best wishes for a successful and above all enjoyable Yorkshire Terriers Tour 2009.

The Terriers' stop over in Singapore included a final chance to play together against the Singapore Barbarians, who are a group of players made up of ex-pats and native Singapore players.
The Terriers split into teams for the round robin touch rugby tournament, which was a far cry from the intense physical challenge the tourists came up against in New Zealand.
Played in sweltering heat, all the players enjoyed a well earned swim after the rugby.
Later that evening, the Terriers had their end of tour meal in the plush surroundings of the British Club, Singapore. The setting couldn't have been more fitting, with panoramic views over the city, from the roof top venue.
All involved enjoyed their last night of tour with plenty of reflection on the previous three weeks.

Today saw the Terriers start their long journey home, starting with the flight from Aukland to Singapore.
The group was subdued today, as the day was the beginning of the end of the tour, but some end of tour entertainment, including the end of tour meal was to follow in Singapore

Today was a well earned rest day for the squad after a tough match and a late (ish) night on Wednesday!
The squad were invited to watch the Auckland sqaud train at the local University campus. Those training included current All Blacks Joe Rokocoko and Jerome Kaino.
The majory of the squad signed a Terriers shirt and were very accomodating to the tourists.
Rest and sightseeing was the order of the day in preparation for tomorrow's flight to Singapore which spelt the end of the New Zealand leg of the tour.

Today saw the tourist's final match of the tour, and it promised to be their toughest test to date.
In preparation, the squad trained at Victoria Park in the shadow of the imposing Sky Tower, it was then an afternoon of rest and relaxation before the big match at Lloyd Elsmore Park against Pakaranga.
The match lived up to expectations and was the tougest test the Terriers had faced all tour, and they found themselves 7-0 down after just over ten minutes. This was the first time the tourists had been behind at any stage on tour, but they reacted well with Joe Larder scoring a push over try a little over five minutes later. Sam Watkinson added a penalty five minutes later in reply to a Pakaranga penalty to make to score 10-8 to the home side after 25 minutes.
Larder popped up again to score his second of the match on the stroke of half time, Watkinson converted to give the Terriers a slender 15-10 lead at half time.
The first half saw the Terriers create a lot of chances, but they were unable to convert their territory into points, and knew they must be more clinical in the second half.
Joe Larder completed his hat-trick five minutes in to the second period to give the tourists a bit of breathing space at 20-10. The match as a contest wasn't over however until Lee Theakstone came off the bench to score in the corner on the hour mark to give a final score of 25-10 to the Terriers.
This was certainly a competitive contest, and the Terriers, despite not converting all of their territory and possession into points, certainly battled well against a physical Pakaranga outfit.
This victory made it five from five for the tour!!!

The Terriers visited the unique volcanic landscape of Wharewarewa Thermal Village in Rotorua,
complete with a Maori cultural performance, close up views of the Geysers and a rare glimpse of a kiwi bird. The visit gave the tourists a fascinating insight into the Maori culture, and a glimpse at one of the world's most impressive geothermal areas.
Once in Auckland, the Terriers drove to the top of Mount Eden, getting panoramic views of New Zealand's largest city, with the Sky Tower dominating the skyline. Tomorrow sees the Terriers compete in their last match of tour, with four wins out of four so far, the players will be keen on completing a 100% tour win record.

The Terriers moved north onto Rotorua for a one night stay en route to Aukland.
One the way, the tour stopped at Flat Hills for lunch and a view of the local wildlife, as well as the impressive Huka Falls.
Once in Rotorua, many of the group went to the famous Polynesian Spa to use the healing water, direct from the geothermal lake.

The Terriers had their final training session before the big match against Petone.
The session was held at the local University field, again in bright sunshine. The tourists trained hard before the starting line up was revealed for tomorrow's match. The chosen match squad then had their Captain's Run, after which the whole squad had their own Crossbar Challenge. Congratulations to Luke Bowler who successfully hit the bar, lets hope this meant he would be as accurate against Petone!

Day 14 saw the Terriers get the chance to watch Wellington Lions take the field for their Captain's Run.
This was a great opportunity for the tourists to see a professional New Zealand outfit train up close and personal.
The Lions players then spoke individually to their Terriers counterparts, which was a brilliant experience for the lads. The Terriers were then presented with a signed Wellington Lions jersey before their own training session began in the Wellington sunshine. Tomorrow morning at 8am New Zealand time (9pm GMT) two members of the Terriers touring party will be being interviewed on a local radio station. This can be accessed and listened to on the web at: www.atiawa.com, and follow the 'ON AIR' link to listen to the Live broadcast.

Today saw the tour move north from Christchurch in the South Island, up to the country's capital Wellington at the foot of the North Island.
The journey began at 6.45am, with the long drive north through yet more amazing New Zealand scenery. From world famous vineyards to snow topped mountains, the journey seemed to fly by.
As we drove closer to the coast and the Pacific Ocean, we saw seals in the ocean to our right, with the mountains to our left, such a contrast is unique to New Zealand.
Upon our arrival at the ferry terminal in Picton, our departure to the North Island was tinged with sadness, as we had to say goodbye to our South Island driver Brian. Brian's knowledge and sense of humour really enhanced our experience in the South Island, and he fittingly got the traditional Yorkshire Terriers sign of respect with the 'Zingeeza' (spelt phonetically!!) dance. The ferry journey was truely breathtaking, with the tourists forgetting the long journey before them to enjoy the spectacular views along the 92km ride. Wellington and the North Island have a lot to live up to if they are to match to experiences and hospitality which the Terriers enjoyed down south.

Day twelve was a full rest day for the Terriers after two games in two days. A welcome lie in was enjoyed by all, baring in mind the early start for the journey to Picton, followed by the ferry ride to Wellington tomorrow.

The Terriers enjoyed their first day in Christchurch with an intense training session at The University of Canterbury. This session was in preparation for the double header with St Thomas of Caterbury and Rangiora over the next two days.
During the session we all got to see a bit more of Stonker than we were bargaining for! .
Alongside the fun, the guys put in a lot of hard work, which will hopefully pay off over the next two matches, maintaining the Terrier's unbeaten record on tour.
The committee members had a tour of Christchuch in the afternoon, which gave the group stunning views of the city, and the volcanic harbour of Linwood.
The evening is to be enjoyed at leisure after the Court session, with an early night before tomorrow's big match, which will be the toughest test on tour so far.
