Good Luck in New Zealand from all at S&C

The hard work and meticulous planning is nearly over and three glorious weeks of rugby, relaxation and fun lie ahead.
It just remains for us to wish everyone involved all our very best wishes for a successful and above all enjoyable Yorkshire Terriers Tour 2009.

Yorkshire Terriers New Zealand 2009 Day Six

Day six, and the Terriers were back on the training pitch, perfecting their gameplan for tomorrow's first fixture of the tour against Cromwell RFC U18s, training however was preceded by the amazing Shotover Jet.
The tour party took the world's most exciting jet boat ride down the nearby Shotover River, slaloming through canyons, under bridges and through tunnels at huge speed, even incorporating full 360 degree spins.

This exhilerating experience set up the squad for training back at Wakatipu high School, where the scrummage machine took a pounding from the Terriers' forwards, while the three quarters concentrated on honing their skills for the big match tomorrow.
After such an energetic day, the squad had a quiet evening at leisure, with the focus very much on tomorrow's much anticipated contest.

Yorkshire Terriers New Zealand 2009 Day Five

Day five saw the Terriers take to the field for the first time in New Zealand, for a training session at Wakatipu School in Queenstown.
The session was in stark contrast to the sweltering heat of Singapore, with temperatures in single figures, not taking into acocunt the wind chill factor. The scenery around the pitch more than made up for the weather though.
After training, Brian took the coaching and backroom staff on a tour of the surrounding area, including a trip to the historic Arrowtown, which was founded after gold was discovered in the nearby river, as well as visiting the world's first commercial Bungy site. All the while, taking in the breathtaking scenery, some of which was used in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

In the evening, the whole tour party scaled the heights of the Skyline Gondola for a superior buffet dinner. After which, most of the party acquainted themselves with the local watering holes and residents.

Yorkshire Terriers New Zealand 2009 Day Four

Day Four and the Terriers landed in Christchurch for their transfer to Queenstown, where the tour was met by 'Number 45' Brian the coach driver, who took the tour onto their first New Zealand destination, the idyllic, lake side resort of Queenstown.
In the shadow of the appropriately named Remarkable Mountain range, Queenstown is famous for its skiiing and diverse population.
The tour settled into the Mecure Hotel ready for tomorrow's training session, Orientation tour and team meal at the stunning Skyline Gondola restaurant.

Yorkshire Terriers New Zealand 2009 Day Three

Day Three saw the Terriers depart Singapore for their flight to Christchurch. With fond memories already made from the short stay in 'The Garden City', the overnight flight to New Zealand was the perfect opportunity to re-charge the batteries for the challenges and excitment that New Zealand promised to offer.

Yorkshire Terriers New Zealand 2009 Day Two

Day two 'The Singapore Sling' saw the Terriers land in the spectacular city of Singapore.
The intense humidity was apparent as soon as the tour party stepped off the plane into the impressive airport. Equally impressive was the hotel with its seemingly never ending floors and welcoming bedrooms.
The tour party were soon on their way to the their first training session of the tour, which certainly kick started the tour in fine style, with local on-lookers impressed by the team's skills.
Next stop was onto the 'Lazy Lizard' for post training refreshments.

Most of the tour party spent the evening at Clarke's Quay, one of Singapore's most famous landmarks, complete with dozens of bars and retaurants.
The tour was certainly off to a supurb start, with the lads excited for the weeks ahead, and looking forward to re-visiting Singapore on the journey home.

Yorkshire Terriers New Zealand 2009 Day One

The Terriers embarked on their tour of New Zealand with a flight from Manchester to Singapore,

where there would be a day stop over with the chance to get in an early training session to get rid of the cobwebs from the gruelling 13 hour flight.
As you can see, the team were very keen to fly the flag of their team and county of Yorkshire.
