This morning everybody woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed in time for breakfast at 07:30. With croissants, toast, fruit and hot drinks and the sheer size of the croissants the lads were soon to gulp down and quickly make their way to the basketball court across the road to do the most important thing, play sport. With all sports making an appearance on the court, from basketball, football and even the lads very own version of American football.
As people began to gather in the foyer and the path outside the hotel there was a distinct smell of sun cream as everyone slapped it on for the hot weather ahead of us. Shortly after our yellow school bus arrived. We all were eager to get on and see if it was just like films, and we were not mistaken. As we travelled through the suburbs of Toronto the lads looked out of the small bus windows cheering at every female that walked passed, making some females day I’m sure! On arrival at Markham RFC we were greeted by them warming up and looking on to see the size of our lads compared to them. The team then quickly went to the changing rooms to prepare for the pre-match light training session and warm up ahead of the first tour fixture. Once fully prepared, the lads took their positions for kick off, the tour now seemed to be in full swing and Karen couldn’t believe we were actually here.
 The match got underway and we got the first score on the board, this was then soon followed by Markham’s try but unconverted. The pace of the game was then stepped up and into the second half and the Widden boys came out to win 38-5. The match proved to be good competition and Widden proved to be the stronger side by using an up tempo speed and converting all but one try. The match was followed by burgers with nachos, Danish pastries and ice cream. All were extremely hospitable with presentations to Man of the match, coaches and Karen who received a special gift for all her hard work. Once all food was eaten the lads and dads had a kicking competition with some dads proving they couldn’t get the ball over the bar in five attempts. This left the lads very smug and everyone had a great time. We all then boarded the coach back to Downtown Toronto for the evening at leisure after a fun packed and victorious day. There were mentions of a group cinema trip, who knows, find out tomorrow! Man of the match - Jimi Howe Trackbacks

Great to see you have all arrived safely. Good result for your first game well done. Anyone eat too much ice cream?
